give me things that won’t get lost.

by Sara on July 13, 2011

Its built deep in my tissue and sinew and brave thoughts of change.
This little spirit house.

Buried where muscles contract and cells collide
to make better.

It has a blue door.

and the knocker reads, “Truth”
and the mat reads, “Mercy”

and all the pictures on the walls I painted with my own hands.

You are here with me, You have never left me alone.
When all the world went dark and no one else answered my cry,

there You were.

You won’t ever go.
I won’t ever be forsaken–no matter what I do or say or break or throw away.

You meet me when I hide in dark corners.
You find me when my heart would wander far.
There is nothing You don’t see.

You move me.
You live and breathe in Your love for me..
When I lay down and when I stand up
let me want nothing more than Your Will.

Wake me, wrap around me the truth of Your Spirit
Give me Your fearless, reckless love for Your People.

Make me beautiful.
Make me over from where I’ve fallen dark and cold.
The best part of all is Your Love.
Help me not to miss it.

In You.
In You, gracious perfect God.

I lose nothing.
